AZ People - Best Cell Service?

So living in AZ I know our coverage here is really sktchy since seems like everywhere you travel is surrounded by moutains or barren desert except the phoenix/tucson corridor. Well the thing is I have been making weekly/biweekly trips up I-17 to flagstaff/prescott and although my handly little tracfone works for most of the trip, up through the black canyon and parts neat flag it looses signal, which sux because these are the places you always see cars overheat or broke down.

So anyways, if your from AZ and use a cell what service works best? Everyone i work with uses verizon but I've heard it cuts in and out around phoneix (I'm in tucson primarily).
Also is it the phone or the service that really plays the major role in signal? Are there any phones that in combo with service give the best chance of always having a connection even in weak signal areas?

Not At&T that's for sure. Once you get pas Sun City on 60 it's dead if you are heading to Pres. It's also pretty much dead once you get north of Anthem on 17. It's okay is parts of Flag. AT&T is also dead in a lot of Tucson, especially on the north side. My company is switching over to Verizon because we've noticed better coverage.

I have Sprint and get pretty good coverage in the Phoenix area. In between Flag and Phoenix, good luck finding a company that keeps service the whole way. I doubt you'll be able to find one that does that, unless you use satellite phone.

I have no experience with Sprint in Tucson though.
