My brother in law is a Hispanic, born in Mexico and lives in AZ. He's a democrat, but he says he doubts they'll vote in any numbers.

Typically, he is right but this isn't a typical election year, not by a long shot. I can't wait to see the results of this election, that's for sure...

He's not happy about illegal immigration and the crimes that have come with it. Arizona has been hit pretty hard. We shall see, as they say.

I imagine the results might be a bit surprising myself.

We'll see I guess, I doubt many people will be staying home.

My wife and I will be staying home, we vote by mail in Oregon! Other states ought to try it, it's convenient and there's a paper trail if needed.

No lines, no waiting, no hassles... it's almost as it they want to make it easy for us voters here. ;)

I have had my mail in ballot awhile now myself, my wife has been regretting not having one awhile now.

She is going to the early voting at any rate.

Hers would arrive with yours here in Oregon, everyone votes by mail. Ours should be here in a few days, the voter pamphlet arrived a couple of days ago.

Yeah, she needs to change that, I imagine she will soon.

She can be a bit pig headed on some things.

Oregon voter participation rate increased once vote by mail was law. It has high approval among both Republican and Democratic voters, with more than four out of five voters preferring it. Funny that the conservatives were the only ones fighting against it, saying that it would lead to massive voter fraud.

It didn't.

In Republican speak, losing an election = voter fraud.

As we've seen, the prospect of everybody voting scares the shit out of them, rightfully so. They'll do what they can to prevent that.

I guess studies that show illegal immigrants commit crimes at a lower rate than US citizens are just liberal propaganda, like so many other facts y'all don't like, right?

I agree with half of your assessment. IME, legal immigrants are probably the most cohesive opponents, as a group, against illegal immigrants. If you have a strong platform dealing with illegal immigration, then you are probably going to get strong support from naturalized citizens (and green card holders voting in local elections.)

as to crime, though: it's an irrational argument. Illegal immigrants commit far, far, far less crimes per capita than do natural citizens in the US, and it isn't even close. Just think about it rationally: why would such an individual willfully, and even accidentally, bring such attention to themselves and thus their status? They tend to be the most "law abiding" citizens (outside of the immigration part, obviously--lol), and tend to pay more actual taxes into the system than individuals like Trump, who actually bleed the system dry to benefit their largely criminal enterprises.
