Hi. I just slapped together this system right now and the first thing I did was download sisoft Sandra and wincpu. Both tell me that I'm running at 1.25 GHz, although I have an Athlon XP 2000+ on a KT333 board. I didn't diagnose anything yet, but I figured I'd ask you guys first. Shouldn't I be clocking a lot higher? Could I have done something wrong? I didn't touch the BIOS at all... just installed win2K and that's about it.

Thanks! Of course, you guys are right. Man, I sure feel dumb. Maybe I should look first next time. :)

Next week: overclocking

It's a very common mistake, don't feel bad. I see that same post all the time. =)

don't panic!
like everyone else has siad, it's very common as you assume straight away that a new mobo has 'plug n play' CPU support and sets it automatically.
I did the same when I got my 1800+ and PC2100 DDR...
don't feel ashamed its just 'one of those things'
