Yeah. Looks like it supports multi-touch to some extent, plus it can handle a stylus AND fingers, and both at the same time! It's a really neat concept, but I can't really see myself using it...how would you hold it? On your lap? The ergonomics would bite you in about 15 minutes from bending your neck down to look at it haha. Other than doodling, I don't know what I'd really use it for...

It has a custom case and the 15.4" Wacom digitizer. There are ways to justify the price difference. I don't think that they are worth it, but they do justify it.

Also, it is built almost entirely by hand.

Oh.. I figured they were just modifying the original case like the Macbooks. I'm sure if you REALLY need a Mac Tablet, then you can definitely justify the price.

Nah it's an all-black custom aluminum case, pretty nice. I'm sure half the price is due to R&D and custom tooling. I just can't imagine what anyone would really use this for. You can't really type on it (no physical, tactile feedback), you can't put it anywhere (your laptop? flat on a desk? propped up on books?)...I mean, are you just going to doodle on it? I have a hard time seeing an application for this. I think it's really, really neat, but I just don't see the practicality. It seems like a niche product with a niche usergroup.

I saw this and started drooling.

As an Architect, something like this would be great. it's powerful enough (and with ok resolution on the screen) to run 3d modeling and drafting programs, tablet for sketching/ meeting notes, and portable enough to take to the jobsite. If I can flythrough a sketchup model with multi-touch, that's pretty much infinite cool points w/ clients.

is there any PC tablet that has a non integrated graphics card? every designer I know wants a tablet laptop, but none of them have the oomph or screen res to do anything useful.

My friend has been looking for the exact same thing. Any tablet, it doesn't matter from who, or running what OS (though he would prefer Vista since that not only has better tablet support, but also would have higher specs) that has anything other than an integrated graphics chip.

If this thing was even $3000 instead of $5000 then I think that it would sell like crazy. I have no idea what kind of R&D went into it, but I am not sure if it $3000 worth :)
