I was reading the hot deals forum and guys were elated to find that the chips they ordered off Newegg were AXIA Y. Someone please explain the significance of this. I assume the letters are part of the serial number or some kind of location id to identify a particular fab they were created at. Does this also indicate the chip has the L1 bridges already shorted to facilitate overclocking? I also assume you can probably request a particular chip from a small vendor specializing in oc'ing (one who verifies chips can reach a certain clock), but that larger vendors (ie Newegg) ships the chips at random.
Thanks for the input.
