AXIA 1ghz chips have faster cores?

Anyone know if this is the same situation that happened before w/ the Slot A classic athlons? How the chip was marked at once speed but the core was different? Would there be any difference in overclockablility between a 1ghz AXIA chip and a 1.2ghz AXIA chip? There is a decent price difference between these 2 chips. Any ideas?

No one can know since the 1 gig cpu will have a 1gig marking on the core. You cant just look at the core and see what it's rated speed is.

hrm..anyone want to take one for the team and break their core and see if there is any speed markings? 🙂 compuwiz? U seem to have a plethora of chips 🙂

And where, might you suspect these markings would be? I will say the ones I got, looked like double stamp strikes. I could barely read them, almost like something was stricken over what used to be there. :Q

hrm, i never heard of a dealer marking DOWN their chips and selling em @ a lower price. TELL ME WHERE! You have so many..i'm sure you can "experiment" and break a few open for the Anandtech community!!
