Be careful man. Lighting the pilot light on my water heater was one of the scariest things I'd ever done. I highly reccomend that if you go that route, turn off the gas before hand and make 100% sure that the area is completley vented out, then go outside and get a good 12" long, dry stick. Use that as your match so you don't have to have your hand in the opening.

Uhh what? Lighting a pilot is one of the easiest things in the world.

I'm not an expert on these things... but if the pilot light has gone out and the gas is still on, then the space will be filling with gas which could go boom. But he should be able to smell the gas.

4 burners @ MAX FTW.

Duh, yeah, turn your oven on 500 and leave the door open. Put a fan in front of it if you have one. Some nerds may tell you that's not a good idea, but fcuk them.

And die of carbon monoxide?

Turn off the water supply to your toilet.

Flush until all water is gone.

Fill up toilet with gasoline

Light match.

Enjoy.

Disclaimer: I am just kidding! Get some blankets and someone warm next to you!!!!

There's not much to a furnace. If you have a pilot light and it's not lighting, it's probably the thermocouple.

Used to be that way. Now they have circuit boards in them.

Yeah, I just opened it up and there's a flame detector and a big ass circuit board. There was no smell of gas when I came home so the unit worked and turnrf off the gas when no flame was detected.

The unit is a Ruud Silhouette UGVJ so it's pretty new. I just can't find the manual online....

Good idea with the oven. It's gas too so I could have 5 burners going. I don't have a fan but there's a main fan for the HVAC system I can use to get some circulation. :p

Bummer but I think this should be a cheap fix as I think it's the spark ignition that went dead.

Or you could just sit in your car in the garage with the door closed and keep the heat on. Same effect.
