awww damn, netflix!

🙁

i have the 3 at a time plan and have a profile setup for my kids so they always get a movie. i used to juggle my queue before i started using them and now ill have to do it again. it was nice because not only didnt i have to juggle my movies, but i had my recommendations separate from theirs.

yes, im lazy enough that this disappoints me
yes, you wasted time reading this

anyone else use the profiles?

title updated. we get to keep profiles. sweeeeeeeet

Not yet, but my kids are getting to the point where I'll probably set up one.

This really sucks. It wasn't so much being lazy rather it being pretty damn convenient. I had a profile set up for my kids, and one for my wife and eliminated the guesswork and jugging of one queue. Sigh...I thought this was a huge improvement and helped sway me towards leaving Blockbuster online. I really hope they change their decision to do this. I'm really disappointed.

Update: Netflix spokesperson Steve Swasey said that the decision to eliminate Profiles is a "final decision." Swasey also had the following to say:

Netflix is a dynamic company that continues to evolve and grow while consistently giving members to best online movie rental experience.
Think of where we were when I joined a little more than three years ago. Then, we had 2.6 million members and 35,000 titles on DVD. Today, 8.2 million members, more than 100,000 titles on DVD and more than 10,000 choices of movies and TV episodes to watch instantly on the PC and the TV.

With such dramatic growth and site and service improvements comes the occasional adjustment.

While discontinuing the Profiles feature is not desirable for the passionate folks who use it, the decision will ultimately benefit all Netflix members. By discontinuing the feature, we will be able to put more focus and resources site and service improvements that benefit everyone, consistent to how we have grown the service over the years.

I hate netflix. I had the one at a time plan and they used to send the movies right away, and as time went on, the length between getting my movies increased. So I said fuck it.

I followed the suggestion and complained directly to Netflix.

im doing this now.

I don't use the feature, but it's sad.

I just opened a new account two days ago too; the extra charge for blu-ray is what gets me... 🙁

Huh?

Refering to this... http://www.engadgethd.com/2008...renting-blu-ray-discs/

WTF!!! This thread is starting to bring me down.

Yeah, I was just about to post that there is no extra charge for blu-ray movies. I've been a 3-at-a-time Netflix customer for five years and set my queue to default on blu-ray when the hubby bought the PS3 last year, and there hasn't been an extra charge.

But then I saw the link posted by AmpedSilence. 🙁

Oh, and we don't use the profiles feature. I set one up once when we had roommates, but since then he just suffers through what I want to watch, and I'll throw one in for him every once in a while. 😀

I wonder when this blu-ray charge will happen, and if it will just be at the 1-2 disc plan level?

It's been a couple of months since that story and my monthly fee hasn't changed.
