Just when I was beginning to fully implement RC5 cracking throughout our 300 computer network, some old P2-300 crashes from overheating. So I go down to look at it, and there are about 3 pounds of dust in it. So I clean it out, and say all set. Boss says, you know, maybe installing those clients wasn't such a good idea, I think you better take em all off. NOOOOOOOO Hopefully I'll be able to reconvince him that it is a good use of CPU cycles, but for now, looks like I'm down to my personal computers. awwwww crap

🙁 that sucks 🙁

1. How did you determine it crashed from overheating and RC5? :Q

2. Maybe you can setup a test bed of several PCs to prove that RC5 is stable in a production environment. 😀

🙁🙁🙁

Make sure you emphasize to him that it's the dust. Tell him that a little air spray followed by covering the intake fan inlet with a used Downy sheet will solve that problem for good and make the place smell good too.

Running RC5 allowed you to find and fix an otherwise undetected, dusty fire hazard, right?

Thus, RC5 = good. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Dasm... that's good 😀

yeah well I'm gonna see what I can do to re-convince him. I think I'll only uninstall the NT clients for now (which of course are easily visible with Task Manager). This is a really good job though, and unfortunately RC5 isnt worth losing a job (assuming boss would get that pissed about it) Until I reconvince him though, I'm going to continue the assimilations of my friends computers. Onward and forward!

my dad works at a place with over 400 computers, and is the oldest employee there =) unfortunatly it is a museum and they dont want RC5 on it for some reason, but just think about it, and there are at least 10 dual g4's!!!! its soooo depressing =(
