Also I cant count all the times when someone has a price listed and I call or text an extreme lowball and they say no, I will say ok thanks and let it be. A good majority of the time if whatever they are not selling doesnt sell, they cave. Happens weekly with me.

"Emails with lowball offers will not be replied to." That's what I'm putting in the ads. They can email all they want. I'm pretty good with the delete key. I have a huge WalMart 10 mins from my house. The parking lot, under a security cam will be the meeting place. BTW: I'm not in San Diego. Or California. That was a diversionary tactic. It worked!!! :D

This person would have gotten that courtesy from me if he did what you do instead of trying to "justify" a ridiculous lowball price to me as if I were stupid.

Yeah I realize my lowballs are ridiculous, I would never try to justify them

OP, step 7 of your "plan" puts in in the "douche" category.

I had so much respect for you ...

I get douchebag lowball offers all the time when I post things on CL, even when I clearly state in the ad that my price is firm. I get a lot of off-lease C2D notebooks of reasonably decent specs. Ebay/standard pricing seems to be in the $200-$250 range for them, and I'll post them at $120 firm or so, and I always have no problem finding a buyer with cash in hand within minutes of the post going live, which lets me delete the ad, arrange the transaction, and go about my business.

I do feel irritated that there are idiots out there who think that offering me $50 for an item that I'm already selling at a firm price well under market value is a great idea, but that's just the world for ya. I don't even respond to people who can't follow the simple content of a one-paragraph posting on CL. It would be like trying to teach molecular biology to a ferret.

I don't have much experience with CL, but one really awesome thing I've been doing is not replying at all. Just let them hang there, waiting for a response they will never get. It's a really awesome and fun thing to do.

Cliffs:

- Posted item for $X
- Idiot emails me with lowball of less than half of asking price
- I rip him (sick of ridiculously stupid lowballs, figured I'd "vent")
- Idiot replies with stupid
- I decide to make the best of it, reply that he's right I changed my mind and need the $$$
- Idiot agrees to meet up
- I (obviously) stand up idiot
- Idiot complains at me for standing him up
- I point out the price he's asking and his "argument" of why it should be that price are seriously flawed
- Idiot "gets even" by posting rant on CL and trying to post a listing under my name for a hot item at a stupidly low price, which of course *I* get the listing notification/confirmation for. Duh.

so end of story you are just an asshole.

I hope you end up having to sell it for less than he offered would serve you right.

I'm glad nobody in my city actually uses CL to sell anything and there's a locally-based site for the same purpose that requires a local phone number, etc to even post anything. Anyone who does asshole shit like this would have to get a new phone number to post anything again...

The CL listings for this area have more fraudulent listings than legit ones, lol.
