Ok i've got a P3-500 Katmai and a GeForce DDR

At 1024x768 32bit colour, maximum quality i get around 56fps, which is perfectly good for my setup.

However when i switch down to 640x480 lowest quality i only get 64fps!!
And when i switch onto the very lowest (512) i only touch 70fps

What is happening? I've turned V-Sync off in the Display properties, but its still happening. I'm sure its something simple.

Ta!

Use powerstrip to increase the refresh rates of your monitor at them settings to 100Hz or over. If you get a nice increase then V-sync is on.

As an experiment i cranked my P3-500 to 600Mhz, and the frame rate went from 64fps to 78fps, so i guess its just my cpu
oh well

Luckily my Duron 650@900 and Asus A7V are arriving tommorow 😉

I'd say its your CPU. I have a C533@600 with a V3 3000 and my 640x480/lowest graphical setting don't even hit 60FPS. I'm pretty sure the V3 3000 can do almost 100 at that resolution/setting if paired with a good CPU.

Weirdly, my previous C300@450/464/504 all scored above 60FPS at the same setting, so I'd say the FSB is a huge factor too.
