Awful hissing when recording with Plantronics 770 Headset...

I am recording with Vista, using the plantronics 770 headset, I tried with the USB headset and without it.

I tried lowering the main volume and the microphone boost in microphone properties and there was no help/change.

Really don't hear anything particularly wrong. Just seems like the noise floor often found with cheap audio interfaces...especially the mic input. I also think I hear some background noise which, again, isn't an issue of the mic.
