I posted some pictures I took on my camping trip to the south Jersey shore on my public webshots page to share with people in a pop-up camper forum.
It has some really nice sunset pictures I took at Sunset Beach ( a west-facing beach on the Southern-tip of NJ) and I thought I would share them with you.

Here they are

cool.

Yeah true...it does look like Brett is against a backdrop for the rock one...there's a shadow behind the hand that's dropping the rock...what's it coming off of...?
Nice pics though.

JZero I didn't know you were from NJ, I grew up in Trenton/Absecon/Egg Harbor. Parents still live in Egg Harbor and my one sister goes to school up near you at Trenton State aka The College of NJ.

Heh! Small world! I actually grew up in Delran, went to The College of NJ (graduated 2001) and continue to vacation in Brigantine.

Hey guys - Thanks! I LOVE my Olympus D450Z! For an older obsolete digicam, it still holds its own (and has AWESOME low-light capability!)

The shot of Brett dropping the rock was shot with the Flash in "regular" mode. The picture of my wife Mary holding Brett in front of the sunset was taken with the flash set to "slow" mode (for just giving slight illumination to a foreground subject.) Hard to believe that those two pics were taken at the same place only 2 minutes apart.

BTW, the "shadow" you see when my son is dropping that little rock is realy fine grains of sand that he scooped up along with the rock.. Makes for a neat illusion though, eh?

How is the sun setting over the ocean if you are on the east coast? What am I missing? Are you somewhere where the water is to your west?

If you're down on the tip - in the area of Cape May, you can capture shots like this of the sun setting in the West. I'm assuming that's where these shots were taken.

By the way, great shots!

wje is correct. This is Sunset Beach in Cape May NJ. It is a west-facing beach and the water you see is actually between NJ and Delaware.

cool pic of the sunrise wje.

BTW - your forum name is my initials backwards -OOOOOHHHHHH SPOOKY 😉

If anyone is ever heading up from the south and going to the Jersey shore, you might want to consider taking the Cape May-Lewes ferry which travels between Lewes, Delaware and Cape May, NJ. The trip is about 45 minutes long and I think the cost is about $32. However, it was quite interesting when we took it a few years back.

ScoobMaster, Did you eat at the seafood restaurant which is next to one of the bridges as you are entering Cape May on the north side? It's right on the water and they have tables out on the wharf next to where the commercial fishing boats park. I can't remember the name of the place, but we ate there a couple of times during the week when we were there. Their steamed shrimp is very good. It's a pretty popular place and people line up outside the door to eat there.

Also, a few miles up from Cape May, there is Stone Harbour. I was there a few years back also. There's a store on their main street which has a miniture golf course set up on top of the store. The mini golf course has lots of neat objects including an old car parked up there - I think it was a '57 Chevy. There's also a great handmade ice cream place in Stone Harbour. However, if you feel like a cone, the wait is about 30 minutes because people are lined up out on the sidewalk waiting their turn. The ice cream place was featured on Public TV a few years back on a show about ice cream.

Man, I wish I could be at the beach this summer. However, I was just in H.H. during December, so I guess that has to hold me over for a while.
