If anyone is ever heading up from the south and going to the Jersey shore, you might want to consider taking the Cape May-Lewes ferry which travels between Lewes, Delaware and Cape May, NJ. The trip is about 45 minutes long and I think the cost is about $32. However, it was quite interesting when we took it a few years back.
ScoobMaster, Did you eat at the seafood restaurant which is next to one of the bridges as you are entering Cape May on the north side? It's right on the water and they have tables out on the wharf next to where the commercial fishing boats park. I can't remember the name of the place, but we ate there a couple of times during the week when we were there. Their steamed shrimp is very good. It's a pretty popular place and people line up outside the door to eat there.
Also, a few miles up from Cape May, there is Stone Harbour. I was there a few years back also. There's a store on their main street which has a miniture golf course set up on top of the store. The mini golf course has lots of neat objects including an old car parked up there - I think it was a '57 Chevy. There's also a great handmade ice cream place in Stone Harbour. However, if you feel like a cone, the wait is about 30 minutes because people are lined up out on the sidewalk waiting their turn. The ice cream place was featured on Public TV a few years back on a show about ice cream.
Man, I wish I could be at the beach this summer. However, I was just in H.H. during December, so I guess that has to hold me over for a while.
