for some reason though it looks generated. it had to have been taken from a satellite, can they be of that good quality?

it is a 3d generated plane, but the texture is real... and the heights as well

The picture is more or less computer generated. It is shot with a stereo camera - 2 cameras some meters apart from each other - thereby the hight information is generated and the surface can be rendred in the computer the tecture I guess is then from the real photo information
