Last year, DragonCon started up their own genre awards for fantasy and sci-fi books, movies, comics, and games.

They just announced the nominees for year 2 of the Dragon Awards, and my first novel, "A Place Outside The Wild" is a finalist for best apocalyptic novel!

I'd love everyone's support if I can get it - with Cory Doctorow on there it's going to be a hard row to hoe. You can request a ballot here: http://application.dragoncon.org/dc_fan_awards_signup.php

Hey congrats! Thats awesome! Happy to cast a vote for you

If people here are interested in those genres I would recommend reading his book. I did and thoroughly enjoyed it.

There's a ton of great stuff in the other categories, as well. It's a true fan award, for both nominations and winners.

Welp, Dragon Awards were announced. "A Place Outside The Wild" lost out to Cory Doctorow's "Walkaway." Can't complain about that, I've been around less than a year and he's got well over a dozen novels out.

Thanks for your support, everyone!

Didn't see this post til today, but congrats on the nomination. Being listed on the same page as Doctorow is an honor, and a big win AFAIC.

So sorry you didn't win but, if it were me, I'd just be happy to be in the same balloting as the likes of Harry Turtledove, Jim Butcher and Rick Riordan, to name a few. Good show!

Absolutely. And my one year anniversary of being published is still a couple of weeks out. Some of those guys have been around for decades.

First novel and already a finalist at DragonCon. You're bound to make it big. Keep up the excellent work.
