Somebody at work was using one of these today. It cores and slices the pineapple for you. Way easier than chopping the thing up by hand. I eat a lot of fresh pineapple so this gizmo would get a lot of use.

Plus it has a bonus function of leaving a really cool pineapple "bowl" leftover when you are done. My suggestion is dump some pineapple and other tropical fruit back in there with some rum, vodka, and orange juice and make your own jungle juice serving bowl.

:D

I love fresh pineapple and eat it all the time as well but I am a cheap bastard and that thing looks like I would be wasting some pineapple around the middle if I used it. :D

Around the middle? Ewww that's the core. And not good for you. It's so fibrous that you body has trouble digesting it. Not good to eat in mass quantities.

You do lose a bit around the edges (that is edible). It would be even worse on larger fruits.

Crap. Unless you're planning to eat like 14 pineapple cores one the trot, each in the biggest bits you can fit in your mouth, there's NO basis for that claim at all ;)

The edges are what I was talking about. The pineapple gets fatter around the middle but that cutter cuts a cylinder. No way I am eating the nasty core either. :) I inherited cheapness from my great depression era parents.

We've had one of those for years. They work great, but my only gripe about them is that the slices are too thin for my preference. Makes a spiral about the thickness of the canned pineapple rings...still a great way to core and slike one however...and yes, if you do it right, it leaves a nice pineapple shell for your fruity tropical drinks...THAT was the main reason we bought one...

Mmmmm.mm.mmmm!
