I've been thinking about quitting my job lately. I really don't like it and there was a hole bunch of stuff that was going to be going on over the next two months that was going to make it even worse.

So, I walk in today, hop on the computer and lurking Anadtech when, low and behold, my boss (who's office is 90 miles away), another manager, and the HR manager walk into my office and friggen fired me. Best part is, I got a nice little severance package (vs. nothing if I just quit).

I am so pumped!

I've been working a second job that was about to turn into a full time job anyway. What a fvcking relief, because even though I hated the first job, I was feeling guilty about quitting. The hole time they were talking to me, I just sat there with a glazed look and a smile, it totally fvcked with them.

3:17PM - crack, first beer of the day!!! Hooray!!


FYI: I don't care about not getting unemployment, cause I already have another job.

It was only 2 weeks pay, plus all my unused personal time (30 hrs), but hell, I was expecting me leaving the company to be a very difficult thing.

They even had this form they wanted me to fill out. It was a list of things I would let them share with anyone that called for references. So there's another weight off of my shoulder

Attendance issues. Problem was, I wasn't motivated to do the job anymore. They had a strict policy that stated you have to be there at a designated start time. I racked up a bunch of points last summer when we were moving and my wife had a baby. Then in the last few weeks, I started slacking and getting in 5 or so minutes late every other day (getting to work on time became less of a personal priority).

How did they know u were coming in late? do u guys have punch-cards or something? I mean 5 mins late is not very noticable...

I hate places that are anal about people getting there 4-5 minutes late and such.....if it was a customer service type job and you opened the store everyday, that's different, but if not, and you do your job fine, I dont' see why some bosses care so much.

I'm so glad I don't have to punch a clock any more or worry about getting in trouble for being late.

not if he resigned. lot of times a company will "coerce" you to sign a paper saying you resigned on your own accord.

what they're really doing is taking any rights/benefits you may have if you got canned.

I was going to say that it was great that you didn't have to burn any bridges since they let you go... until you sprung the attendance thing on us. Ouch.
