lost why does one need quick release fans?

If anything wouldnt u want beefy filters for the fan's that were quick release?

I dont care about removing fans.. i care more about dust.
And i wish case vendors would focus a bit more on ANTI DUST and not try to make there cases like the movie "fast and furious" with rice'd up case featuring usless bling bling, yet have no concept or design.

This is why i stopped buying cases.. once u get down to it, there all the same.
So i just got a big BOX which is called MM, because at least i can add all the stuff i want on an empty box, and not be stuck with all the useless accessories most cases have.

its about the biggest "BOX" u can get tho.

Seriously tho.. i sometimes i wonder who comes up with these designs.

Some of them fail on so many levels, and only a handful are actually considered innovation.

Dont get me wrong.. there are some nice cases out there.... example.. i will always love the Silverstone TJ series.
The Corsair 800 series and 700 series as well, have features which kick started the entire norm of cases...
(the cable routing.. and the holes behind the mother board pannel)

CM HAF series introduced the 200mm top fan.

Can u say that much about this case?
They just added removable fans, on a standard case and they honestly expect us to go heads over heels?

Enough emphasize on stupid things.. and lets focus on real issues.

1. Case should have cable routing management.. if it doesnt it straight up fails.
2. Case should have good filters.. once again if it doesnt it fails.
3. Case should not have any issues with mounting or installing.

I have yet to see a vendor Nail all 3 100% without costing an arm and a leg.
I wish a vendor would step up and do so, and not try to side branch into BLING more then function.

No great need for "quick release" fans, but the connectors are neat if they result in cleaner fan cable management. Of course, it's nice to be able to take your fans out at a moment's notice and impress your friends by juggling them before they spin down, too.

Kind of neat, not a feature that would immediately sell me on a case but it would be handy for cleaning fans and other stuff.

Not a totally new concept, though, I think my old Chieftec Dragon had tool-less mounts that fans clipped into. This is more sophisticated though since it integrates the power connector, the quick connect doesn't even require plugging in or unplugging the fan. :)

really nice looking case, I'm use to seeing NZXT cases that look like an alien or a transformer.

Yeah lol most of theirs are a bit too busy for my tastes, I didn't even realize they made more minimalist cases like this. Looks great overall, especially for $100. Its Achilles heel seems to be poor ventilation, though, the front panel just doesn't have enough intake area. They probably should have done slits all along the side and opened up the bottom of the front panel more like the P18x, Define R2/R3, etc. But other than this one flaw, seems like a nice case.

The Fans are pretty cool and I'd love to have them, but the Case is pretty crappy. You can get better for $less these days.

I have bought more than a few NZXT cases (family and friend builds) and I have to say they do an excellent job at ergonomics and price. That HD dock in just icing.

LOL I love MM, but it was funny to see you gripe about a case that retails at or under 100 bucks and your solution was to spend 5 times that.

if its actually pretty quiet then I think its great. it looks fine. it has some neat features and sound proofing.

1 - yes(so it appears)
2 - filters arent very good, but better than none
3 - no idea, the one NZXT case I have had no mounting issues at all(Vulcan)

NZXT is one of my new fav case companies as they are doing all sorts of things, not just rehashing the same case over and over....

well coolermaster has been trying lately.. and there cases dont cost that much.

Corsair cases are nice, and the 600 series doesnt cost an arm and a leg.

Haf's also dont cost as much.

Case vendors have just been annoying me lately.
Maybe its because ive stopped looking at retail cases, and only been looking at custom fab'd ones which are 1000x better in feature over most vendors cases.

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?p=3695290#post3695290

Which is SAD... cuz i know a vendor could do it a lot cheaper, then what these custom builders need to spend.

Can a vendor whose listening take 10 minutes to look at that link, and think about taking ONE of those ideas instead of trying to recreate Disney land on our desk?

I always loved Mick's thought on how to build a great case. I do agree that with a MM you get basically all the space you will ever need, but $500 is overkill for most people as you know. I love my new 800D since I could not wait any longer on seeing the new MurderMod case.

As for the OP, I hardly remove fans after I place them into a case, but for people that are constantly trying to find the right fan due to noise or extra air flow it would be great.

did no one actually watch the whole video?

the removable fans are there so you can access the hot swap harddrive bay behind the front panel. the fans also have power contact tabs so there are no wires attached to the fan. the idea is you can pull out drives from the front without unscrewing the side panel. the drives slide out from notebook type connections.

The HDD bay isn't hotswap, there aren't backplanes for power/data, so you'd still need to open up the case to connect cables to the drives.

I could see the front access having some advantages, though. For example with a long video card, it might interfere and not give you enough room to install HDDs from inside the case with non-sideways HDD cages like this. Front access would allow you to much more easily install and remove HDDs in situations like this.

Given that you need to open the Case, sideways HD Bays would have been the better option. I'll never buy another Case without sideways HD Bays, they are frickin awesome, providing more Internal room, less depth to the Case, and superior Cable Management.

Definitely an interesting feature. I've been contemplating a more silent build for my next rig, and was intrigued when the H2 was announced. However, I ran in to this and it sort of took the wind out of my sails:

Does anyone actually have this case yet? Or can anyone recommend some other solid silent cases?

Dude that guy is a wanker. I agree with a few of his points but he's applying a set of criteria that are separate to the design of that case. It's meant to be a cost effective silent solution, not a pimp my arse case. I would bet if he loaded it up and read the directions he would have been much more kind to it.

The Corsair 600T is the best case. Trust me because I have one.

Just because you have it doesn't mean it's the best. Show me that you've had nearly every other case on the market and the 600T is your favorite and why. Then we can talk.

My opinion on the 600: Can't stand the roundiness. Don't like the controls on top, front top is good for me, but I want a nice flat topped case I can stack shit on. Inside looks nice tho. Good cable routing, more HDD space than I'd ever need in a desk unit. CPU HSF mobo plate thru-hole... there has got to be a better way to say that.

I use a Chieftec Dragon and it does have tool-less fan mounts. One of my rattles now though until the case heats up alittle.
