Award BootBlock BIOS with auto sys shutdown

I've got a question for you guys...lastnight I flashed the bios, and it failed. No big deal, I had the bootdisk for last time it happened. Problem is, now I get this on the screen:
---------------------------------------
Award BootBlock BIOS v1.0
copyright blah blah

BIOS ROM checksum error

Detecting floppy drive A media...

Drive media is : 1.44Mb

--------------------------------------
THEN...it'll shut off.

I have the boot disk with the flash utility on it, but the comp won't stay on long enough to DO anything with it! It turns off after 10 seconds...every time. I'm at a dead end, and can't think of what to do...I have cleared the CMOS numerous times. I can't figure out how to override the auto shutdown so the disk can do it's work. Any suggestions??

No takers? 🙁 I just can't figure out how to bypass the auto 10 sec. shutdown so the comp will stay on long enough to reflash...internet searches only turn up posts on how to ENABLE auto shutdown. <:-/

Try doing a barebones startup. Take everything you dodn't need off the mobo, and then clear the CMOS again. Then, try booting again.

I tried disconnecting everything but the floppy drive, vid card, and ram...still the same. Battery has been out for days now, and power turned off too, in addition to resetting the CMOS with the jumper. It will not stay on past that 10 second mark. And btw, it's still me...some screw up with the e-mail addy when trying to change it in my profile forced me to make a new one... 🙂

Okay, try doing a startup with only a HDD, vid card, and Ram installed.

Clear the Cmos again then try again.

If it still dosen't work, I reccomend you take it somewhere to get inspected and fixed. I think mabye something broke from like a power surge or something.

Yep, I'm thinking getting a new chip is the route I'll have to take. Thanks for the link! Nothing will keep the comp on long enough. I'm starting an OTR trucking job here shortly, so I won't have much need for the comp anyway in the next year or so...and by that time...UPGRADES! lol Thanks for the help though. I think I will still have the chip replaced and use that comp as a server or just a backup one...I'm on my current backup right now...an AMD Athlon 850MHz (read: SLOW) I'm just hoping I can transfer to a new mobo and proc withOUT having to completely reinstall windows and lose all my apps and info. Any advice on that, perhaps? Seems like every time I upgrade, I have to reinstall everything as it won't load windows. Don't remember the error messages right now, but they effectually let me know Windows had to be reinstalled.
