Never liked Hulu. I tried their plus service once when there was a free trial and was pissed to discover that they still put commercials in the videos.

Not surprising. They're been burying their free content under various free trial signup screens for awhile now.

Apparently their free library will still be available through their distribution partners, such as Comcast. So you'll just have to go to Comcast's site then? Who knows, but it looks like it'll still be available.

I signed up for Hulu just to watch The Path. I could've watched it on less... scrupulous... sites, but I figured I'd be a good boy. But after I'm done with it I'm gonna cancel (reminds me, I need to finish it, lol). I also agree that the ads with the PAID version are a bunch of crap. Their site is buggy, too. I disabled my ad blocker for their site and I still get that message up after sections of a video, saying "Please turn off your ad blocker."

It has been many years since I logged into Hulu, but they do seem to be a better source than Netflix for SNL sketches and direct-to-VHS movies from the '90s.

As far as adblocking goes, I use it on Hulu's site too, and I vastly prefer 60 seconds of silence to 60 seconds of being screamed at.

All you need to know:

the company — which is jointly owned by Walt Disney, 21st Century Fox, NBCUniversal and recent minority shareholder Time Warner

Netflix is a legitimate third party that innovated on streaming and tries to innovate on content. Hulu is a piecemeal pacifier meant to give the masses just enough to keep them interested in mainstream content but not enough to legitimately threaten traditional (read: more profitable) forms of TV distribution such as cable.

This has been a long time coming.

If I'm paying for the service, why should I need to use an adblocker? Don't need one with netflix :)

Netflix and Hulu are different services really. For the networks they support, Hulu is a good source for TV shows as they air. Netflix only posts old seasons. Without Hulu I couldn't keep up with Battlebots (legally)

I remember back in the day that you could watch all kinds of old tv series on hulu but the writing was on the wall as they moved shows forcing you to a paid subscription to watch them.

Ouch. I winced when Time Warner bought in, and now the axe is falling. No more tv for me, unless it shows up on YouTube. I thought Hulu wanted viewers. Hulu filled a void, reaching audiences without a paid tv provider, like myself. I guess they'll insist you "connect with a paid provider" before you can see anything now.

I'll probably look up Yahoo View or see about installing a outdoor antenna and tv card.

It was really great back in the day when you could basically watch a bunch of cable shows for free (stuff from FX, for example).

Of course, that was never going to last. I've said this before, but sadly I see all of these smorgasbord-type streaming sites going away eventually. Each studio/conglomerate is developing their own site, and you'll have to pay for each one if you want to watch their shows. Netflix was smart to start developing their own series, because eventually that may be all they can stream.
