AvP movie or Alien 5?

I heard that Cameron wont do a final film if AvP is going to be carried out. Which one is happening, or likely to happen?

No info, but my guess is he's related to the Weyland - Yutani corporation (of the ALIEN series).... possibly the name of "Bishop II" from Alien3

They pretty much need to do an A5 now they they released the first 4 in a box set.. because with out an A5 they wont be able to release a more expensive dvd box set in a few years.

uhm.... it's called "lost footage" and "directos cuts"

they can milk that for another 5-6 years. Hell... i don't think anyone's ever seen the FULL version of ALIENS..

umm A5 would most likley be as bad as A4, the series should have stopped at 3. and AvP doesnt look too bad and IIRC there are humans in the AvP comics and game so most likley there will be people speaking

Haven't seen the Alien Quadrilogy box set they're releasing at the start of Dec, have you? Theatrical and Director's cuts of all 4 movies, full comentaries, pretty much every featurette made for each movie, and tons of extra goodies. I'd be surprised if they could do more with that series.

Edit: BTW, what did you mean with FULL version of Aliens? The director's cut is the only one on DVD currently, and I'm not aware of any more material outside it that was cut.

As for the original topic, I don't think Alien 5 will happen. And definetly not with Cameron at the helm anyway. That series was buried during the last movie. While Joss Whedon has proven he can write wicked vampire stories, Alien Ressurection proved way before Firefly ever came out that he sucks at sci-fi. Why they had him create a fresh story I'll never know. It would have been way better had they adapted one of the series Dark Horse comics came out with. Their first two Aliens series would have made totally wicked movies.

What I really wanted to see, though, was another pure Predator movie. The Dark Horse series Bad Blood would make probably the best movie of all of them, now that Arnold has gone into politics and their innitial series can't be made with him. A perfect sequel, without doubt. Which is why Hollywood will never touch it.

While there are humans in the movie, they're not using the AvP comic book as the basis for it. Watch this it explains things. At least they got the director from Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil helming this one, so it should kick @ss. Those are the two best video game adaptations out there afterall.

Initial impression: crap.

The story is weak. The director is ok, at best. I was kind of excited from the preview in the theater, but the short video about it here makes me realize there will be few redeeming values in the AvP movie.

Maybe it will be a hialirious romantic comedy about a predator male who meets and falls in love with a queen alien! Meg Ryan can play the part of the queen alien and Tom Hanks can be the predator!
