Discussion Avowed game from Obsidian. Thoughts?

Since it's on Battle Net launcher, but is early access, has anyone tried it? Is it similar to like Skyrim?

Is it single player only RPG?

Anyone that has experience with it is it decent? Or is Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 more worthy?

So, I admit I haven't actually played it, but looking through reviews on Steam, it's what I was afraid of.

Looks like it's a technically proficient, competently well made game with a dense map with lots of verticality and beautiful fantastical locales... But the narrative is boring and lacks any sort of hook or mystery.

I sort of felt this way when I played outer worlds, Obsidian has done an about face. Historically they had really gripping narratives marred by low budgets and tons of indie jank. Now they have plenty of money and the jank is gone, but so are the gripping, challenging narratives as well.

I watched a comparison between it and Oblivion. Not Skyrim, Oblivion. Avowed is non interactive garbage.

My favorite reply from another video trashing the game -
"I wish we started making fantasy RPGs again."

-Yep. It naturally draws comparison to Bethsoft games, but supposedly there is no "emergent" gameplay.

It's an ARPG first, a CRPG distant second, and absolutely not a sandbox at all.

Thanks, they (Bliizzard) tried to play it off as released on Feb18th or whatever day, but it is early access.
