So how does one avoid getting a fake, gray market, or refurbished phone sold as new? I think I am starting to find phones that I like. The Samsung active series of phones are of interest to me because they have bigger batteries and they are not so thin and fragile. They also have real buttons. I was in the delima of paying $700 for a phone that won't last a day on a charge and won't hold up to being dropped. Putting a case on a phone in order to use it seems a bit silly. So just reading reviews on Amazon is seems that many of these phones, especially the older ones are fake or refurbed or the warranty has expired on them. How do you get a genuine phone our of Amazon etc. Am I stuff with getting a phone from AT&T or what?

I ordered an S5 Active refurb from Newegg and I hope the phone is usable. I might consider an S6 or S7 active as well at some point.

Why don't you head over to Swappa and buy a used phone, that way at least you know for sure its status and you'll pay alot less for it anyway.
