Wow this is a hard topic to find any info on.

I am trying to get AVIVO to run without Catalyst, since it is useless bloatware IMO.

I was wondering if anyone had an idea how to start the AVIVO utility independantly of CCC?

Thanks guys for any help here.

The GUI takes 5 secs to load. However, the startup entry CLI.exe takes just as long to load as the old CCC did, thus bogging down startup.

It's a nice trick on ATI's part, shifting the load time from the GUI to a stealthed startup service.

I know that I can disable the startup entry, but I'd rather not be bothered installing a useless program if I can help it.

If you just want the software video transcoder then grab ATI Tray Tools.

Avivo actually refers to a combination of software and hardware elements, much like PureVideo from Nvidia.

Wow, I was just wondering this the other day, I haven't tried using the VIVO on my 3870 yet but plan too. I saw there are some good apps if you look but since Im already using CCC I think Ill try that. Maybe later today!

On to the CCC, as anyone who uses Vista knows its not the speedy starter at all but as noted above CCC/Cli.exe takes forever and is always last on the long vista boot.

If you use CCC is the driver being loaded last or is that just the GUI/CCC? Because my screen (using a 20"ws or a 27"HDTV) always flashes when CCC starts up...

Prior to this new rig I used XP Pro and ALWAYS used Omega drivers no CP at all so I never noticed this before.

I guess I just want to know if this is normal behavior? Its not really that bad just slightly annoying. Im so close to being done with Vista... Ive been using it on my Laptop for 6 months but on my Desktop I play too much and everytime I change anything with the HDD my Activation comes back up and Ive called 4 times in 2 weeks. The rep told me that it will continue to happen if I change anything at all but it only takes 6 min to activate it! Eh thats another thread anyway sorry.

The screen flash at startup is among a number of reasons why I refuse to use CCC.

As for the ATI Tray Tools I could not find the option to use AVIVO's video recode.

And even though AVIVO is a 100% software based transcoder, it does not have a stand alone launcher.

nVidia or ATI?

Forget gaming FPS, if you can...
Who's now building the best ViVo cards?

I wrote above that I always used Omegas, well I finally dropped Vista for a few weeks and went back to XP Pro and since Im forced right now to use Cats I installed the CCC and sure enough it does the same thing as in Vista...

In XPPro it doesn't actually bother me at all though I guess because the system is so responsive.

As for Avivo, It really is a tough subject to find out anything solid on. The only useful knowledge I got was that Avivo isn't Vivo so I see know reason for me to continue to research it :)

Disable "re-detect monitors when starting CCC" and it's history.
