I have some AVIs I want to burn to DVD to use in a commercial DVD player. If I was burning to CD I'd call this a VCD. How can I accomplish the same thing with a DVD?

I tried to get Nero to do this, but it stoped after I had ~2 hours of AVI video (at about 700 megs). Clearly, I'm doing something wrong.

Anyone point me to a site, faq, or program that'll do this for me?

Use the VIDEO forums...oh sorry, you cant as they are are full of video card junk...and big kids.

How about a proper VIDEO forum?

Start with the NEWBIE forums and make sure to read the GUIDES and ARTICLES on the left (in the box's). I'll help you out when you post in the forums OK?

Thanks, I think. I've poked around doom9.org and other sites but can't really find what I'm looking for -- I have a feeling it's because VCD is the wrong terminology to use with a DVD. I was hoping for something a bit mroe directed than a pointer to another broad site, but thanks anyways.

also ulead dvd moviefactory, nero recode (with proper plugins), and other dvd creator programs can take other video files, and recode to dvd format
