Avira wont update on it's own

Red Squirrel

No Lifer
Despite the fact that I have it scheduled to update, every day I get a popup saying that it's been 3 days since it's updated. So I force an update, but the next day I get the same thing. And it does say 3 days even though I forced it a day ago. Anyone else running into this? Wonder if it's an issue at their end. It's been about a month now.

Try a manual product update to see if it fixes it:
Double click on tray icon (do not simply select update from the tray icon) -> Update -> Start Product Update

Yeah tried that, it updates but then next day it tells me it's been 3 days. I do have that fix to get rid of the adware, could it be that they caught on and they have a way to make it so it wont update now?

Weird I just installed it on a brand new machine and it's doing the EXACT same thing. That little thing comes up on the screen saying it has not been updated in 3 days so I update it but then when I reboot it does it again. So I wonder if it's even updating at all or if the timer is screwed up.

I have a bad feeling it has to do because I stopped the adware from running.

edit: Tried again, and it looks like it's licensing crap. I probably have to pay for it. Bahhh why can't anyone make a decent AV these days. AVG used to be good now it's bloated crap and has to reboot the pc like every day.

i'm not sure what you are talking about concerning "licensing crap" as i've got it installed and updating on 4 different machines here at home, one that i just built last weekend...sounds more like you've may have disabled some services by accident.

If I watch the update (normally I just let it go behind whatever window I work on) right near the end of the update an error flashes by about licensing.

Trying bruceb's fix right now to see if that solves the issue. Avira is great at what it does it's just too bad the setup process has to keep getting more complicated. Now I have to copy a file manually too. I guess I'll write a setup script to make it easier. I tend to install this often as people constantly drop off PCs for me to fix. The down side of being a computer geek.
