Avira AV Free won't update????

I vaguely recall going thru this with AVG years ago & it's been a few days now that Avira won't update.

I see the manual update option in the menu but for the life of me cannot find the latest file definitions on Avira's website.

Rushing around this morning so maybe just missing it.

Anybody else's updates failing???

Do you have the popup block done? I had to undo mine in order for it to update. As soon as I undid the hack it updated right away. I had used the one where you deny traverse right to the system account on avnotify.exe
 
ya I noticed this the other day when I installed Avira. I didnt try to mess with it and figure out why it wouldnt work, I just installed something different. Dont understand why Avira is changing things though, maybe they are trying to get people off the free version, Greed is always a companies undoing.
 
I'd really like to see them get away from the advertising popup. I'd rather see ads on the main program windows, maybe like a banner at the top of a webpage. Have a default image for offline use, and a changeable image when a network is available.
