Avira Antivir won't update

Heres a new one, just reformatted my dads PC and installed antivir and tried to update. After sitting there for 2 minutes it says internet connection failed. I can connect to the internet fine and spywareblaster updated with a fuss. Any ideas? This is the report I got below. Is there something I can do to fix this or is it an Avira server problem?

Tried disabling my firewall, setting avira to exempt list, using the preupd.exe in the avira directory and nothing worked, it would just sit there for 2 to 5 minutes and say connection failed. I installed AVG and ran update and that works fine. Seems to be someone else with this problem on the avira forums but preupd.exe worked for them.

Antivir free uses slow and erratic servers. Try again in a few hours.
