Avioding inaccessabel boot volume when changing computers, help

Ok, withough throwing money at the problem, i am looking for a way to load ide raid drivers into an existing windows 2000 pro install, and get it to not bluescreen. my sole goal in this is to take the os drive off of the standard ide channels and put it on a raid card for mirroring. (sofware mirroring has failed)

To set this up, the pc i am working on is a SOYO K7V Dragon Plus!. it has a promise FastTrak (model eludes me) raid controller along with the onboard ide channels. (4 channels total)

I have found this MS article kb314082 but i cannot make sense of it because i cant find the part where you add your raid driver to the mix. also it is kinda hard to get the 2 pcs required because it is only 1, and all attempts have failed to install xp to it, (see my privious thread. if i can solve that problem, then this one is solved) But then again, if there is something wrong with the controller putting 2k on it wouldnt help much because its dead, lets hope not

What i was wondering if is there a way to install the drivers and FORCE windows to turn the 'Standard dual channel ide controller' into the promise controller, which is what i am about to attempt after i ghost the drive to safety.

And jsut to think, all i ever wanted was to have data redundancy for this system, as it is needed for all of the financial information and info about my classes, because i allready lost the main drive the data was on, and successfully recovered it... open to ideas...

time and cost effective work-arounds anybody? help? and thanks in advance.

Just use the add hardware wizard and select raid controllers. Then point the wizard to wherever you have the raid drivers and install them manually.

When you put the drive on the raid controller, it'll automatically use the newly installed driver instead of the ide ones.

I've done something similar myself when switching to a new motherboard, and just added the new drivers to my image before changing.
