what you guys use to to convert VOB files to AVI files? FlaskMPEG or DVD2AVI + VDUB? which codec do you use? Codec alpha or divx 5.0? also i am looking for details for a perfect conversion. thanks!

All I know is.. don't use FlaskMPEG.. it doesn't encode very well and the quality isn't very good.

yah flaskMpeg doesnt do a great job i tried that. but what would be the perfect setting for DVD2AVi and also for Vdub? i made one but it came out with some wierd colors on fast motion parts in the movie.

I have had lot of problmes with flaskmpeg with stability and sync
I have used DVD2AVI with better luck, but then audio and video interlacing is a pain in the behind. but it does give better results.

You might find DVDCutter useful: DVDCutter. It supposedly supports conversion of VOB to AVI. I never used it for that, but I did use it strip audio from an AVI.
