avi files shows up grainy in vista 32bit and VLC player

I'm running newest VLC with vista 32, but some older 007 avi movies that I ripped from my collection shows up very grainy. using media player classic shows up fine. this didn't happen when I had win xp sp3 32bit.

anyone knows why?
