avi files on dvd-r

just wanted to know if its possible to watch avi files on your dvd player if its been burned on a dvd-r/+

Sure, but you need a DVD player that specifically supports Divx/Xvid (AVI) formats.

you can convert. just know that most avi's u find are much lower resolution then dvd. and theres plenty of post processing going on to hide the uglies of super compressed avi..so ifur converter sucks..ur gonna see a mess.

Like the first reply read, you can play *.avi files on a DVD player that supports Divx and/or Xvid. Sometimes it helps to use an older codec, like Divx 3.x instead of Divx 5.x.

The Philips DVP642 is a good one that plays Xvid. Amazon has them for $62.

I have this model. It plays most Everything.

same here. love it too,dump pretty much any file to a dvd-rw and watch away. :)
