Anyone know if there's a program I can install to run an AVG update server? Linux or windows is fine, as long as it will be able to act as a central update server for so that it downloads the updates from the net, then all the machines connect to that server, rather then all go online. I was hoping to set up a basic http server and wget the updates but directory listing is denied on the directory, so not sure how it's setup. I'd have to use a packet sniffer to see exactly what the update process does, but before I do that, I figured I'd ask if anyone knows of an damon that is already made for this. Wether it's 3rd party or comes from AVG it would be fine.

I tried using a caching proxy, but from the looks of it that's not really a solution since the update process is not a straight download - it still needs to contact the server to know what are the latest updates, etc.

I think the term you want (at least for our CA antivirus) is called a Redistribution Server. I'm not familer with AVG, so I don't know what update options it supports.
