AVG issue

I just installed AVG (trial edition) last night, as I had really only been using Win Defender for antivirus. I like everything about it, except for the fact it seems to have slowed down initial load times for web pages. I've tested this theory out on a few different sites and I have definitely noticed a difference. I have the web shield active, but I did try disabling it, but only got the same results. Any advice would be appreciated.

Ok, I think I figured it out. It's the LinkScanner...which pretty much does as the name implies as soon as you load a page. I didn't think of disabling this initially, but did so, and page loadup seems to be back to normal. I am not sure about the Web Shield though. I have disabled it as I don't think it would benefit me. Any recommend settings for AVG 8?

AVG8 is a lot heavier than AVG7. consider using AntiVir 8 (also free), instead. i have the aforementioned AV products in my 3 machines and it's pretty clear that AVG8 is slow. besides speed, AntiVir 8 also offer better detection rates.

regarding your question, re-install AVG8 and, when prompted, choose Custom installation. disable LinkScanner and any other extra feature if you want. in the settings, i've disabled Spyware protection too. but like i said, that beast is just slow.... AntiVir 8 is better.

Besides AntiVir, there is also avast!. Try them both, choose which one you like more. They're both good.
