AVG discontinuing?

On my parent's computer (not sure why not on mine too) I got a notice that AVG will be discontinued, well at least the free version. So if that really is the case, what are other alternatives out there, in terms of free antivirus solution for windows?
 
There have been several threads on this topic.
AVG free will be continuing, they have acquired Ewido and released a new version. Version 7.1 will be discontinued. Just go nd download the new version (7.5 I think)<--- Still free.
