AVG Anti-Virus Install issues

A friends computer gets this prompt whenever he tries to uninstall the Free AVG from his computer (Windows XP):

Installer initialization failed due to following error:
Error: Initialization of the language file "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG7\setup.lns" failed.
General failure.

He cannot uninstall it to install the new version of AVG because he needs to first uninstall the old version.

I did a google search and seen an exact problem but no help:

I also tried to do do this "IF ALL ELSE FAILS LETS GET RADICAL" page from the free AVG forums:

I cannot get past step #3 because it tells me it is already installed and says I must uninstall it.


What can I do to get through this?
I do not know if there are any viruses on this computer because I cannot use the program?

Thanks for the help, I just reformatted his system. It works fine now. The only thing I can figure is that there were actually 3 different Anti-Virus programs (AVG, Syatem Mechanic, PC-Cillin) that were installed on this system in the past - A big NO NO......

This probably had something to do with it!!!!!!!!
