I installed AVG free 9.0 and I noticed that my SSD would not stop working... it seemed like AVG kept working endlessly in the background... ? obviously it wasn't scanning and resource monitor showed that it kept reading files in my system drive C: in the background, but it was accessing my drive crazy style.. is this AVG's fault? SSD issue with AVG? windows 7? should I use another antivirus???

Yes.

AVG is a bloated useless POS, IMHO.
MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) would be my recommendation.

This isn't really a discussion for this sub forum though, i realize.

Your OS will access your HDD for all kinds of reasons, Superfetch & indexing as examples.

+1....

This is one of those cases where you get what you pay for...
best AV is NOD32. Personally I would use NO AV at all rather then AVG free. AVG Free is also the worst performing by a large margin in independent testing... worse than norton and mcaffe (And I would use no antivirus rather then norton or mccaffee)
