Just upgraded from AVG 7.5 (paid subscription and downloaded on line 2 years ago with no problems) to AVG 8.0 also paid for on line. Sent 3 requests via e-mail for help. No response since April 16th.

Here's the issue: During the install, AVG 8.0 says it will uninstall previous versions of AVG. But at the end of the install, I get the Installation Failed AVG Window with the following:

Error action failed for registry value: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes..AVGDiagFile\Default Icon::Creating Registry Value...
Error: 0x80070005.

I hear there is a .bat file you can get from AVG as a fix(but no one answers e-mail tech support e-mails).

Should I continue to pursue or contact VISA to get a credit for the $59 I spent? If I get the credit, what is the best anti virus, internet security suite you guys could recommend?

Thanks,

Ed

Not to be a broken record or anything, but before splitting hairs on which is the best antivirus, make sure you've got a good baseline security strategy. This is mine, and it addresses user behavior too, since the computer user can be the biggest security risk of all sometimes.

btw I recommend not posting your email address like that, unless you want to get boatloads of Spam :Q
