Avertv/Avermedia MCE A169 Disc needed BADLY!! Bought one but came with NO cd :(

I found and posted in the HD section while back a link to this tuner going for $15 shipped. It was too good for me to pass up so I picked it up. Up till now it sat in the box but today decided to install it. Avermedia doesnt have a driver for it. I googled and found a basic driver for it, but without Xp Media Center, or any other kind of program to set up the tv channels for it, its a waste of space for me.

So this is where I hope you can come in and happen to have the same one. Can you kindly copy me the disc you got with yours and I will pay you for your time 🙂 I want to get this working and it would be a great help to me.

Thanks in advance!!
J

** Please note that this Product is an OEM version Only for use with Windows MCE**

Haven't seen anything to indicate that you'll get it working on anything other than 2K5 or Linux. Apparently the .12 drivers should get it working in Premium or Ultimate, but haven't seen anybody who got it to work.

Looks like there was a pretty good reason you got it for $15 shipped...

I downloaded and tried CyberLink PowerCinema 6, and it works, works great, BUT DAYMN, $130 for the software!!! But it is working with that program so it works with more then just XPMC, or at least that one, but I'll be damned if Im gonna pay $130 just so I can watch tv on my pc 😛
I dont need all them bells and whistles that come with it, but it showed to me that the driver I found for it does work, just not the FM part, but tv comes in very clear. So Im still going to hold out for hope that when someone bought theirs it came not only with the drivers but some program to make use of it, if they got the non oem one like I did. And even so I seen others as OEm listed saying they come with a Disc, doesnt say what kind of disc, but they claim there is one in the box and its oem.

Yeah, I think that's the rub. The hardware was designed to utilize a pre-existing environment, and all you'll get is hardware drivers to take advantage of that environment. This isn't unusual.

The fact that CyberLink released software that works with it is almost unusual. But is it compatible with the dual tuner (i.e. record two, or record one+watch another)? Anyway, I agree that the price is a bit high...you can get 2K5 for $115 shipped, and have a second Windows license...and it does dual.

Perhaps you could try MythTV or SageTV, something else is bound to work with your card as well.
