Averatec laptops?

Averatec is an excellent value-line brand. While the quality is great for the price, don't expect Thinkpad built quality for Averatec price 😛 My buddy bought an Athlon XP-M one for like $800 AR and it works well for his uses. Light, 12" screen, decent performance. It runs VERY hot and the found is quite loud compared to most laptops, but for $800 you gonna complain? Check out this thread, there are some interesting solutions to the Averatec heat issues.
Averatec supposedly recently came out with a Centrino model and they are listed as one of the companies to come out with Turion Mobile Technology; I would wait and see what Turion has to bring to the table!

P.S. Given you are a diamond member, wouldn't you know to just make ONE thread and ask for help with what you need in a laptop instead of starting multiple threads? 😛 Ask away!!

Yea, but what happened was, I made one thread in the AM and went out to purchase my laptop during lunch. I came back and began to regret my purchase. I ended up with an Acer, when I think I should've went for the Averatec tablet pc. But, I figure I'm gonna try linux so i'm happy with my decision.

This thread was to get feedback as I was considering returning this for the averatec.
 
for the price, you can't really complain about anything, they are thin, light, rather hot but whatever

can't beat it pricewise

stay away from their tablet pc...its not a true tablet, does not have the wacom digitizer if i remember correctly...
