Averatec Laptops?

I have been looking at buying a laptop, and came across Averatec.. they seem to offer a lot for the dollar. Does anyone have any experience with these laptops? This is the one I am looking at: laptop

Not a bad price for a p4 3ghz, 512 ram and a radeon 9600 w/ a 15" screen if you ask me

I only found one review which was fairly good. I heard they aren't very good for battery life, and can run a bit hot.. but other than that I didn't hear anything else bad about them.

Thanks

Battery life is generally never good with P4s...if that's what you need, go for a Centrino (Pentium-M).

I'm no laptop expert, but we (yeah i work there) just got them in recently, so i really can't say too much about it yet.

All the previous Averatecs we've carried have gotten reasonably good feedback, & been very popular due to lower price, & great specs compared to Toshibas & HPs.

To be quite honest though, we have had a few more than average coming back with problems, so if you are using the notebook for a few years, consider the warranties (no i'm not trying to sell it, but it's not a bad idea on them). As for what's been going wrong, i can't say, as i work in sales not repairs; i just see them coming back is all.

Or if a really good warranty is what you need, get a Toshiba perhaps.
