sorry for the late response...seems like a great computer, however my friend had one of the earlier laptops Averatec produced. He loved it for about 5 months until it started to fall apart. He said that the biggest problem was the poor construction of the casing...it felt cheap and somewhat pliable. Besides that he said the processor and memory were good for the money.

according to the forum members from www.averatecforums.com the 3200 series seems to have addressed some of the problems that plagued the 3100 series. My 3225 seems quite solid. Can't say it feels like an IBM but doesn't feel like something is gonna fall off either. It's a thin and light wiht alll the *right* features (for a student/business need) and at a great price. Comes with 1 yr manufacturere warranty and purchase it with a credit card that has extended warranty and the laptop will at least last you 2 yrs =)

I joined this forum today just to report on my experience with the Averatec 3225. Very simple: Read all the reviews on line, including Laptop Magazine's BEST BUY review. Got laptop from Circuit City on 7/30/04 as replacement for aging Thinkpad. Used it at home and traveling and loved it. Got up this morning (8/22) at 5:30 a.m. (EDT) to do some work. Laptop would not boot; nothing on screen and consistent beeping noise. Can't even get into BIOS. Called Averatec and tried some routines connected with waking computer from hibernation etc. Nothing worked. Have to send computer in for repair and I lost my previous version of document. End of story.
