On staples.com i found this averatec 2200 series notebook listed for $800 after $150 in MIR... I'm a f4an of the size and stuff so I went to the store to pick one up (Atlantic city, nj).... it was $850 - $150 in rebates at the store, and the guy honored the 12% customer appreciation discount

so final cost out the door with 7% sales tax was $800.43.... minus $100 MIR - $50 MIR (both ez rebates).... comes out to $650 with tax and all, 600 without tax. YMMV of course with the appreciation coupon used for laptops.. i managed to get some kid at the cash register so it worked out.

This deal is not going to work and should be locked. The only reason it can even be YMMV is if the associate is illiterate and doesn't read the text on the coupon saying no computers period.

Read the print at the bottom of the coupon. It CLEARLY says NOT for use on computers, laptops, or built to order computers. I used to work for Staples, and higher level management comes down on stores BIG TIME when they allow this coupon on a laptop. I've seen people get written pre-termination warnings for doing this.

yea, the coupon does say that it is not to be used with computers, but thats why i put YMMV, the guy did it for me, and for a friend of mine too. so if ya can get in on one, well cheers :) its a sweet laptop for the price.

edit: oh and a lot of the staples deals are because of illiterate and totally retarded customer service.. such as price matching a price before coupon or rebate, etc. i don't see why this should be locked.

The only reason I'm advocating against this is because I've worked for Staples and know what the @$$holes in upper management are like when these coupons get processed on computers. I was management at the store I worked at and let me tell you, it rained s@#t when someone did this. Loss prevention saw it the next day, and the district and regional managers called and ripped myself and other management a new one.

Maybe it's against natural selection, but spare the poor cs tards who can't follow directions :p

The rebadged MSI S270 notebooks by Avertec are high quality Series 2100.

I can't speak for the one at Staples.

This one is not made by MSI.

High Quality MSI

Rebadged MSI by Avertec

Averatec 2100 series

I have this one from the July Compusa warehouse sale $450 demo and it is SOLID.

i've owned an averatec 3150 before, and it was a POS... it is my guess that the 2200 series is a rebadge as well, its of good quality.

I own an Avertec 3300 for travel. It has always worked fine. However, there are computers that are more solidly built.

I have an averatec 13.1" 4100 series, and the case cracked for no reason whatsoever! I just leave it sitting on a desk all day. Apparently there is an issue with this happening due to heat, just a heads up.
