Average weight for a 17" monitor?

depends. Trinitron tubes way a TON compared to other tubes. I think it has something to do with it has something like 3 seperate tubes/whatever in it.
 
My 17" monitor (LG 790SC) weighed in at 42lbs when I was shipping it over the summer.

Its actually one of the heavier 17" monitors that I've had to deal with. Best guess (after throwing around lots and lots of them) would put the average between 30-35lbs.
