so right now, I live in oklahoma, with a salary in the low 50k's, as an insurance adjuster supervisor. With 3 years of work experience under my belt, if I go down to texas, find a job, would it be rather difficult to get a comparable salary?

Lets say I ditch insurance completetly, and find a job that is related to my major, which is mathematics(bachelors degree). Is a salary in the high 40's and low 50's possible for an entry level job? Does my 'work experience(related or unrelated) count for anything?

also, being an insurance adjuster, what else can I do besides insurance? Can Insurance adjusting branch out to a different career?
I use to not be able to relocate whatsoever, so I did not even bother looking for jobs out of state. Now, Im in a different situation and was wondering what my options are.

Look at Salary.com. Everything is meaningless unless you take into consideration the area.

where in Texas do you want to go? Dallas/Houston/San Antonio - you shouldn't have a problem finding comparable salary.. Austin may be OK, too, but there are a lot of freshly minted college grads eager to find a job.

USAA is in San Antonio - you may be able to get your foot in the door there with your insurance background, then move to an area you really want to be in. You may be able to leverage your insurance background into an HR position in Benefits.

if you stay with insurance, specifically auto insurance adjusting, come to California where we got more registered cars than people.

Come to Houston. I think Harris county has some of the highest car insurance rates in the nation.

He probably won't get a big enough raise in Cali to make up for the higher cost of everything. Maybe, but doubtful.

If you don't own property, Texas is cheap when it comes to taxes.
