Just curious. a LOT of Americans are shocked at the price of cigarettes and tobacco when they come up here. I've had more than a few american tourist do a double take when I mention that will be $10.70 for their pack of Marloboros / Camels. Course these are import brands and you pay a premium. Average price at my store over all for popular brands though would be around the 9.50 mark. You can get them cheaper than that at a smoke shop of course but that's not an unusual price for a convenience store here. Anyway the other day I had a couple mention that they paid close to 11 bucks for a pack of Marlboros in NYC. Now I was the one doing the double take. I'm used to hearing Americans mention 4-5 bucks a pack. Is NYC really that much closer to European and Canadian prices on smokes?
