Average OC that u can expect from a 3.2c? I just hit 3.8 on air!

Yoshi, of TechTV jsut built a box that's clocked over 4.1 and some change from a 3.0 cpu,,, that's like a 33% Overclock,,, WOW !!!

The clincher is ,, he's got this thing cooled with some mod that uses actual refrigerator parts sitting at the bottom of the case.
But here's athe bad part ,,, to achieve this he took the budget to 5, 000 dollars US,,, OUCH !!!
With that much cash the whole thing becomes couterproductive, I'd build a sys with a 64FX or go XEON with a 7505 board all SCSI'd out for that kind of cash...

And if your RMA does go through on the RAM, the cost of ram for the entire world goes up just a little bit. Thanks Vonkhan, from the memory buying public!

My god Nebor, how did you get your postcount up so fast? I've been here 2 years longer than you and I'm only in the 700's. You couldn't have possibly have gotten all those picking on Vonkhan.

Edit: Just realized I passed 800 today. woot! postcount++ 😀

He just goes around and tries to slam people. Nothing really productive.

And actually the specs for that HyperX are 2.6 +/- .1 and if you email or call their CS saying you are having difficulties reaching the rated spec they will tell you to bump up the Vdim. Most of the other high speed ram (OCZ and corsair etc.) spec out to 2.8 =/- .1.

Vonkhan, we should RMA you because the onboard Morality chip is damaged.

Nebor, you are what is technically known as a pen|s. Only slag him for RMA'ing a god-damn CPU if you live your life in a perfect, pure, never-do ANYTHING-wrong way. If not, keep your mouth shut, you're extremely irritating.

So you're saying none of us have any right and shouldn't voice our opinion when something wrong is being committed, because none of us has lived a 'perfect', 'pure' life?

Ok, to clear up matters - I had a conversation with a Kingston CSR

They stand behind the HyperX PC4000 as an overclocker's memory.

They said that the user can bump up the vDimm to as much as allowed by the mobo

If my board offers vDimm upto 3.2, I can raise it upto 3.2 without vioding the warranty 😀

However, if u volt-mod or hard/soft mod on ur own ... or use any other method that isn't approved by the mobo's manufacturer - Kingston will NOT approve the RMA

This is bad news for IS7/IC7 owners, but music for mine ears since my IC7-Max3 lets me juice up my RAM with 3.2 vDimm goodness

vonkhan, it's time to sell your 3.2c @ 3.7 and order a 2.4c @ 3.6 at ZIPZOOMFLY.COM.. they have the SL6Z3 now...

Yo V, that is an awesome overclock.😉 Are you stable running two instances of Prime95 at 3.8G's? My 3.2 does 3.7 comfortably, can play games but, it gives up the ghost in P95. I compared benchmarks using game 4 of 3dMark2001 and it was 1.1% faster at 3.7GHz vs. my rock solid setting of 3.6GHz.

I'm just curious to see how stable you are at 3.8.

Sorry for the late post, got caught up in a camping trip (in November dude 😕, bad idea!) and Simpson's Hit & Run

Yeh, its stable running 2 instances of p95 altho my cpu's temp goes up by quite a bit

you should be hitting thermal throttling at that speed unless you have a very nice heatsink.

3.6 breaks 50c for me with dual P95 and HT enabled on a Swiftech MCX4000 and AS3

I DO have a very nice hsf: slk947 w/ tornado at full blast 😀, not to mention 4/4 intake/exhaust fans
