Aveo noise turning right

I have a 2008 Chevy Aveo hatchback with a scraping noise when turning to the right. This happens when turning hard to the right with foot on brake pedal or off. It's a harmonic scraping sound. I also heard a clunk with the wheel turned to the right and backing up. I had my mechanic look at it but he found nothing. I hate to wait until something breaks.

Jack it up, grab the wheel and check for wobble (worn hub bearings), take wheel off, poke/pry/wiggle/inspect, particularly the brake system. CV axle usually starts out as a clicking noise turning but if the grease boot is torn, go ahead and replace it.

Was the mechanic able to reproduce the noise? Did he even take the wheel off? I too, would use a different mechanic from now on.
