We have tux... Where are the BSD Demon, the windows logo (or paperclip, or that dog in the search box), and the blue or tigerskin X? ;)

I'm not sure about how much extra bandwidth more avatars would take but the most likely reason for not having the BSD Demon or the Windows logo is that they are trademarks and legally protected.

I'd like one of those, or a Debian Swirl :)

Wishful thinking.

I guess I'll stick with the snake. It's the only one other than the flag and ribbons that I like.

I dont know... I've switched twice so mine is less common and I can find my own posts quickly among others...

Trademarks might be an issue with MS and Apple, that's true. And its not like I use linux or bsd... ;)

yeah that definetly would be a nice added feature

But that openly advocates a difference or separation from subscribers and regular members. Anand specifically does not want anything remotely close to that. That gets people eventually saying "you lowly non-subscriber!" and actually meaning it. Maybe not now, but face it... everything degrades, including society. If one open, blatant, and public separation is made and is acceptable, then there might be a push and eventually another made. Then another. And another. And eventually you have an entire class system here at AT.

*cough*Elite*cough*

...and we can't have that, now can we...

So, we'll come up with cheesy ripoffs, like the DSB Daemon or the Findows fogo, MS will never know ;)

A while back, I asked the owner of the BSD Demon if he would permit its adoption as an avatar, and he declined. Somehow I doubt I'd even get an answer from Microsoft on the use of Clippy, unless it was a definitive "no."

Why would that take extra bandwidth? Everyone would still only have one avatar.

Dude its not that hard for people to become subscribers...pay $30 and you got it...if it was some "unattainable" thing I can see your point, but ANYONE can become a subscriber. If it was limited to Golden Members and above then your point seems more valid.
