Avast blocking chromium browser executable because it is Win32:Evo-gen[Susp].

I use Chromium browser instead of Google Chrome. Have been doing this for more than 2 years now.

Strangely since last night whenever I try to launch chromium browser, Avast pops-up a message saying that chrome.exe has been quarantined because it is Win32:Evo-gen[Susp]

I tried to reinstall Chromium but the same thing happens everytime.

I opened Avast virus chest restored it and added it to the exclusion list, but the issue has continued to persist.

What do i do?

A Google search shows this issue going back a few years. Obviously they aren't going to change it. I remember an AV doing something like this before (can't remember which one). It was so dead-set that the file was a threat, it wouldn't allow it to run, even when marked safe. See if Avast will let you turn off heuistics. If it won't, or if that doesn't fix it, you may just need to switch AVs.

I DLed the latest version from woolyss and did a clean install

Issue resolved, atleast for now.
